The language and cultural diversity of our choir members reflect, just like our singing, the kaleidoscope of the South African society. Most of our members are from Stellenbosch and environment and travel an average of 25 kilometres by car, taxi or on foot to choir practices. The home languages of the approximately 110 members are Afrikaans, English, Xhosa and Sotho. Most choir members speak Afrikaans at home, followed by the Xhosa home-language speakers. Our choir members' occupations vary from actuarial science, occupational therapy, journalism, teaching, motor mechanics, child minding and plant pathology to theology! More than 20 choir members are also leading or conducting other choirs such as church, school and community choirs. The experience they are gaining with us is used to the advantage of these choirs.
New members are invited to auditions in January, while current members must also audition again in January. Are you interested in doing an audition or do you know of someone who might be interested? Please contact us.
