The Stellenbosch Libertas Choir does not only improve and enrich the quality of life of its members and those who come into direct contact with the choir. We also reach out to all the communities where our choir members have their roots.
The choir has given tangible assistance to the following institutions:
-
The Mfuleni congregation in Blackheath, Cape Town, where a number of choir members come from;
- The Masikhule Children's Home in Khayelitsha;
-
The ERUB Children's Choir, whose members are from the communities of Elsies River, Ravensmead, Uitsig and Bishop Lavis and who, thanks to our financial assistance, could undertake an overseas visit;
-
The Cape Town Mission Homes & Services, an organisation focusing on welfare work among abused orphans and poor senior citizens. This organisation concentrates on the Cape Flats;
-
The Association for Adult Education of the Atlantis community - also supported by Naspers;
-
Financial assistance to the AME Church in Eerste River and the Mitchell's Plain Primary School in support of the certificate course in music training presented by the Conservatory of Music.
The choir regularly performs in aid of a variety of organisations that benefit the broad community, such as:
- Stellenbosch Child Welfare;
- South African Autism Association;
- Durbanville Children's Home;
-
Maties Community Service (previously USKOR), Stellenbosch University's community service organisation supporting historically disadvantaged communities in the Western Cape;
-
The Pioneer School for the Blind in Worcester and
